Sorry, the Church Groups section of our site is under construction, but here is some information. about a few of our upcoming classes - open to the public! Church Membership Class Facilitator: Dr Stephen Drake Date: March 1, 2006 Did you ever wonder who is qualified to baptize people other than a minister? Did you ever wonder why we baptize backward rather than forward? What about the churches who only offer the Lord's Supper to church members, but refuse it to other Christians who are visiting your church? Most people in our day know what a harvest moon is but have little understanding of what a Lottie Moon is. Is tithing a New Testament requirement? Can deacons have some wine, but not be given to much wine? What's the difference between receiving a new church member by profession of faith, transfer by letter, watch care, or statement of faith? All these questions are open for discussion and any other questions you might have about the subject of church membership in this E.D.G.E. session. The class is called Church Membership Class. We'll have fun and hopefully learn some new and helpful information about this important issue. The Frazzled Female: Finding Peace in the Midst of Daily Life Facilitator: Leila Odum Date: March 1, 2006 Cost: $11.00 Knowing Christ and His Word is really the best way to deal with today's frantic stressful pace. Nonetheless, connecting the two can be a challenge. The Frazzled Female is a study designed especially for women. By sitting at the feet of Jesus and absorbing His teaching, women will be able to deal with essential issues like managing their time, getting along with difficult people, taking time for themselves, and even organizing their lives. Making the Most of your Bible Study Facilitator: Paul Ferrara Date: March 1, 2006 This class will focus on important issues related to Bible Study. We will compare and contrast English Bible translations and the methods behind the making of these translations. We also will discuss common errors which people make when they study their Bible. We will examine the question of who or what determines the meaning of a text, and whether or not it is a biblical text. We will examine how many of these issues have profoundly affected the debates over the selection of Supreme Court justices and the interpretation of the Constitution. Finally, we hope to leave some time during the final week of class for everyone to ask questions about Bible passages which have always confused, troubled, or concerned them in any way. I hope to see you there!
